Martyrdom Day of Guru Teg Bahadur.
Guru Teg Bahadur was undisputedly the first martyr for human rights, as his martyrdom is unparalleled in world history, as never before had somebody laid down his life to defend the right of followers of another faith to practice their faith.
It was his martyrdom in 1675 that forcible conversion of Hindus to Islam under the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb could be checked.
After the Guru was beheaded at Chandni Chowk in old Delhi, his head was taken to Anandpur Sahib
by Bhai Jivan Singh, and cremated by the late Guru's son Gobind Rai.
Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib stands today in memory of his martyrdom in Old Delhi as well as Anandpur Sahib.

Gurudwara has permanently moved to a new location on July 17th, 2011.
With Waheguru’s blessing and Sangat’s support we have moved to our new site at 1107 S Dupont Highway , New Castle, DE 19701.
Sikh Center of Delaware would like to invite the Sadh Sangat to our new Gurughar.
Also at this time, we humbly request every member of Sangat for your support and contribution towards Langer/Kirtan Seva, We have 3 Langer and 1 kirtan slot for every Sunday. More than one individual/family can jointly sponsor this seva, that will of course help gurdwara to run other operations smoothly. Please take a look at the schedules and consider sponsoring with Langer or Kirtan if a slot is already not sponsored.
Your participation will be highly appreciated to make this Gurdwara successful.

We are finally moving on Friday July 15th, 2011.
As you all already know, With Waheguru’s blessing and Sangat’s support we have found a site for our new Gurughar at 1107 S Dupont Highway , New Castle, DE 19701. On the behalf of Sikh Center of Delaware(SCOD), we would like to take this opportunity to let all Sadh Sangat know that beginning Sunday July 17th , Gurughar will completely move from Elsmere to new location.
Sikh Center of Delaware would like to invite the Sadh Sangat to our new Gurughar on the occasion of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, which begins at new site on Friday July 15th, 2011. And bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib will be on Sunday July 17th, 2011, followed by Shabad Kirtan, Ardass and Langer.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji Shahidi Diwas was a great success.
With the great support of our sangat, we were able to observe the Guru Arjan Dev Ji Shahidi Diwas in our own new Gurughar. Everybody in the sangat was very excited and pleased with the new site. Though much work remains to be done in order for us to stay on target with move-in date of July 17, 2011. If you can spare your time and money please think about volunteering and/or sponsoring one of the items from "Sewa Opportunities" list.

On behalf of SCOD team, this congratulatory message means to felicitate you (sangat) and thank Waheguru for the new and our own gurughar, we have now from today 06/10/11 (CLOSING IS DONE). Our grateful hearts thank all the donors, sevaks, and well-wishers.
As you may already know, we are observing Guru Arjan Devji?s shaheedi diwas on June 19th at 1107 S Dupont, Newcastle, DE 19701 ? in our own new gurughar.
Due to delay in closing we will keep Akhand Path at our existing(old) gurughar. Akhand Path will begin on Friday, 17th June at existing (OLD) gurughar
We need your help with your time in order to shape and size our observance as suitable as possible for the one who not only was the FIRST MARTYR in Sikh history, but also the one who gave us our present and eternal guru SHRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB, and we largely have our holiest of holy places SHRI HARMANDIR SAHIB as a result of his great efforts and godly sagacity. All those who can spare time and wish to rejoice and thank HIM with us, PLEASE take out your valuable time to attend.
We will also be posting list of pending tasks (under Volunteer Corner) on our website or you can just show up between 5:30PM -8:00PM everyday this week at the new gurdwara to help with remaining tasks.. Please help with your valuable time to volunteer for any of the tasks.
